DENTAL question: can ANYONE answer this for me please?
okay, please bear with me……..
a tooth i had filled about 10 years ago or so has been bothering me the past few days, nothing bad just the occasional twinge.
so i looked in the mirror and noticed that a lot of the stuff that was around it was gone.
i use a braun oral b battery powered toothbrush, could it remove the fillings or coatings around the tooth?
should i stop using it?

sounds maybe like your filling is just old and needs replacing. Fillings get soft over time and crumble . Or if you mean your actual tooth enamel has gone sounds like you are either over brushing or you have acid erosion. If you brush too hard or often it can slowly wear away the enamel on your teeth. If you drink and eat too much acidic foods such as oranges and fizzy drinks and fruit juices, they soften and weaken your tooth enamel. Then when you brush the enamel is already soft and it wears away faster. Having thin tooth enamel can cause sensitive teeth and decay. So cut down on acidic foods and if you do have them, always rinse you mouth out after with water to wash away the acid. Always wait at least 2 hour before brushing for your enamel to harden again. You only need to brush 2 times a day for about 2 minutes a time and floss once a day before brushing just before bed. You can also use a mouth wash that helps makes your teeth and enamel stronger. I use one each night before bed called Colgate Plax which helps stops decay by about 40% and makes the tooth enamel stronger, preventing decay and tooth erosion by brushing etc.
You need to get your filling checked in case it is leaking and get your tooth enamel and gums checked. Flossing once a day will keep your gums healthy . Eating tooth kind foods will help make your teeth stronger. Milk, yogurt, fresh fruit( non acidic fruits like apples and pears and melon) and veggies and meats. Avoid sugars and junk food and pies and cakes and crisps. Fizzy drink is awful for your teeth and enamel.
And do not brush too much as it can really damage your teeth and gums. 2 times a day for 2 Min’s each time is enough.
